£30.00
Take an exclusive tour around the Lichfield Guildhall, Donegal House and the Lichfield District Council Chamber, visiting rooms that are used for civic events and council meetings, which are rarely made open to the public. In the Guildhall, on Bore Street, visit the Minstrels’ Gallery, the Prison cells and the Moulton Room, dedicated to a former Town Clerk of Lichfield. Next door, in Donegal House, take a look round the compact, but charming Mayor’s Parlour, where the Mayor invites his guests to take tea before civic events. Then, take a small walk across to the Lichfield District Council offices on Frog Lane to visit the historic Council Chamber, in the oldest part of the council buildings, and on the site of the Lichfield Grammar School whose famous pupils included Samuel Johnson and david Garrick.
Following the tour, enjoy light refreshments in the Council Chamber, where council meetings are still held to this day.
This is a unique opportunity to visit some of Lichfield’s oldest, and historic, rooms and venues that provide a fascinating history in to the customs, and traditions of Olde Lichfield.
Funds from the tours go to the Lichfield Mayor and Sheriff’s nominated charities for 2022/23, the Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation and the Pathway Project, both local Lichfield charities.
The tours, which will last 90 minutes in total, will be hosted by Jono Oates and Councillor Colin Greatorex
Tickets cost £30pp to include tour and refreshments
