Take a guided history tour with Georgian Jono with a difference for Lichfield’s Heritage Weekend!
On September 19, the day after Samuel Johnson’s birthday, join Georgian Jono for an exclusive guided tour of Lichfield looking at Lichfield’s restaurants from the past and the present. Using some modern day hi-tech Jono will show his guests what the restaurants from today used to look like in the 1900s and what the restaurants of the 1960s are today. Jono will use vintage photographs and postcards to take you back in time to the 1900s through to the 1980s and you’ll be able to see the streets and buildings as they were then and compare them to how they look today! The tour lasts one hour and fifteen minutes and it will be then be followed by a divine Afternoon Tea at the Bureau Bar on Market Street. During, and after, the tea guests can view Jono’s Mini-Museum, a collection of the Lichfield items that Jono has collected over the years, including vintage watches, coins, medals, loving cups and more! Guests will also be able to view a collection of vintage Lichfield photographs that Jono has donated to the Bureau Bar and also have an exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Bureau Bar including upper floor views across Market Street and over the city centre.
This is an exclusive tour with Lichfield’s Number One tour guide, historian and author of the book ‘The A-Z of Lichfield’. Only ten guest places are available so early booking is highly recommended.
Tickets are £50 per person which includes the walking tour, afternoon tea at the Bureau Bar and access to the museum items and tour round the Bureau.
The tour starts at 2pm and the whole event will finish by 4.15pm
This event is part of the Lichfield Heritage Weekend, organised by Visit Lichfield.
